After the first three stages of the Critérium du Dauphiné, the most important stage race apart from the Grand Tours, it was time for the individual time trial, which was to "set up" the general classification before the mountain stages. The current world champion in this competition, Belgian Remco Evenepoel, turned out to be the best on the 34-kilometer route. Remco also took the lead in the general classification and, with an advantage of over 30 seconds over Primoz Roglic, he will defend the yellow jersey in the next stages.
